The Spirit of Holiness

A Willing Heart

Exodus 25:1-2

When we talk about a willing heart, we are basically talking about “want to.” Without it we will never do anything.

“Want to “is a powerful thing. With it you can lose weight, keep your house clean, save money, get out of debt, or reach any other goal in life you may have set for yourself. You do not really like to face the fact that your victory or defeat has a lot to do with your “want to”.

We like to blame everything on someone or something else. But you need to sit down and take a good old-fashioned inventory of your “want to”. You need to be honest enough to say, “Lord, I didn’t win the victory because I really didn’t want to.” Tonight, ask the Lord to give you plenty of “want to”.

Satisfy Your Thirst

John 6:35….he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst

We all thirst for more of God, but if you do not know He is what you are craving, you can be easily misled. Instead, if you set your mind on seeking God – if you give Him first place in your desires, thoughts and choices – your thirst will truly be quenched and you will not be led astray.

David spoke of this longing for the Lord in Psalm 42:2, saying, “My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God”. You are to search after God like a thirsty man in the desert. What does a thirsty man think about? Nothing but water! He is not concerned about anything else but finding what it takes to quench his thirst. Tonight, God is saying to you, “Here I am, seek Me, I have everything you need.”

The Spirit of Holiness

Romans 1:4

The Holy Spirit is the holiness of God and it is His job to work that holiness in all those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior. 1 Peter 1:15-16 says: “But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

God would never tell you to be holy without giving you the help you need to make you that way. An unholy spirit could never make you holy. Therefore, God sends His Holy Spirit in to your heart to do a complete and thorough work. Paul tells you that He who began a good work in you is well able to complete it (see Philippians 1:6). The Spirit of Holiness will continue to work in you as long as you are on this earth; He will continually bring you into new levels of victory.

It Is Finished!

Hebrews 10:19-22

Before Jesus died on your behalf, the only way to receive God’s promises was by living a perfect life or by offering a blood sacrifice. When Jesus died and paid for the sins of mankind with His own blood, the curtain of the temple which separated people from the presence of God was torn in two.

When Jesus spoke from the cross saying, “It is finished!” He meant that the system of the law was finished, and now all people can enter freely into the presence of God. Through the blood of Jesus you can draw near to God! Ponder this important truth.
