A Step of Faith

A Step of Faith

Proverbs 16:9…..A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure

There are times in life when you must take a step in order to find out, one way or the other, what you should do. Some doors will never open unless you move toward them. At other times, you may take a step and find that God will not open the door. If you trust Him for guidance and the door opens easily, you can trust that He is leading you to enter into the opportunity before you.

Sometimes the only way to discover God’s will is to practice “stepping out and finding out”. If you have prayed about a situation and still do not know what you should do, take a step of faith. We can stand before an automatic door at a supermarket and look at it all day, but it will not open until we step forward to trigger the mechanism. Trust God, take a step, and see if the door opens!

Faint Not

Deuteronomy 20:1, 3-4

A fainthearted person cannot take much. He has to have everything a certain way or he gives up and quits. He gets discouraged and depressed quickly.

What happens when your heart faints? It just gives up. In your heart you say, “I can’t do this. It’s just too hard”. If that describes you, know that you do not have to stay that way. The power of God is available to you to break that fainthearted spirit of your life. Instead of thinking and saying, “It is too hard”, say, “I can do whatever I need to do because God is with me”.

Prisoners of Hope

Zechariah 9:11….even today do I declare that I will restore double your former prosperity to you

As a “prisoner of hope”, you must be filled with hope, you must think hope, and you must speak hope, Hope is the foundation on which faith stands. Some people try to have faith after having lost all hope. It will not work. Refuse to stop hoping no matter how dry the bones may seem, how dead the situation may appear, or how long the problem has been around.

Psalm 42:5 says, “Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, my Help and my God.”

A Word in Season

Isaiah 50:4

You can bless people with the words of your mouth. The power of life and death is in the tongue (see Proverbs 18:21), therefore, you can speak life to others. Proverbs 15:23 says, “A man has joy in making an apt answer, and a word spoken at the right moment - how good it is!” When you edify or exhort, you are urging people forward in Christ. You can actually hold people back or encourage them forward just by your words.

What a tremendous honor to be used by God to lift up another. Ask Him to teach you; to give your words in season that will heal and encourage, bless and edify.

No Fear

2 Timothy 1:7….for God did not give us a spirit of timidity, cowardice, and fawning

In this passage of Scripture, Paul was encouraging Timothy and saying, “You may feel like giving up, but you have everything you need to succeed. The Holy Spirit gives you peace and the power to face anything. Press on without fear!

You may not understand what is going on in the world around you, but you must trust God through it all. You can pray and ask God for answers, but when heaven is silent, you need to keep doing what God has told us to do and just trust Him. God will make all the pieces work together for His purpose, even when you do not see tomorrow clearly. Tomorrow’s answers usually do not come until tomorrow.
