Pay Them No Mind

Pay Them No Mind

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“But some scoundrels said, ‘How can this fellow save us?’ They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept silent.”

(1 Samuel 10:27, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

In scripture, King Saul had some people come against him. They were making fun of him. He could have easily become distracted and lost his focus. He could have defended himself saying, “I’m a good leader. I have what it takes.” But what did he do? He kept silent. One translation says, “He paid them no mind.”

Friend, sometimes that’s what you have to do when people are coming against you. You have to realize that some people are just jealous. Not everyone is going to have your best interest at heart. But don’t let them control your destiny. Don’t let them distract you from God’s best. Instead of playing up to people or trying to win over all your critics, keep your eyes focused on what God has for you. Spend time with people who see what God is doing in you. Focus on those who will celebrate you. Ignore the critics so you can be all that God has called you to be.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, today I keep my heart and mind focused on You. I choose to ignore the naysayers. I choose to turn away from critical voices. I declare by faith that I will accomplish the plan You have for me as I daily put You first in everything that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Still the Storm...Dreams and Visions...An Inheritance of Peace

Still the Storm

Mark 4:39…and he arose, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Hush now!

When Jesus and the disciples were crossing the lake and a storm arose, the disciples panicked. They were as stormy inside as the tempest around them. But when Jesus spoke “Peace, be still” out of that well of peace within Him, immediately the wind and the waves became calm.

You cannot rebuke the storms in your life if you have a storm raging on the inside of you. We maintain peace by trusting God. Do not be mad at God because you did not get what you prayed for. Do not be mad at God because your friend got a promotion at work and you did not. Do not be mad at God because your friend got married and you are still single. Trusting God in every situation is the only way to still the storm within.

Dreams and Visions

Proverbs 29:18

The Israelites had no positive vision for their lives – no dreams. They knew where they came from, but they did not know where they were going. Everything was based on what they had already seen and could see. They did not know how to see with “the eye of faith”.

Jesus came to open the prison doors and set the captives free. You will only begin the progress when you start to believe you can experience freedom. You must have a positive vision for your life – a vision for a future that is not determined by your past or even your present circumstances.

Exercise your faith tonight and take a positive look at the possibilities God has planned for you. (See Romans 4:17). Think and speak about your future in a positive way, according to what God has placed in your heart.

An Inheritance of Peace

John 14:27….Peace I leave with you; peace I now give and bequeath to you

The word bequeath in this verse is a term used in the execution of wills. In preparation for death, people usually bequeath their possessions, especially those things of value, as a blessing to those they love who are left behind.

Jesus knew He was about to pass from this world and He wanted to leave us something. He could have left any number of good things, like His power and His name, and He did. But He also left us His peace.

You do not leave junk for people you love – you leave them the best you have. Jesus had a special kind of peace that surpassed anything mankind had ever known. He knew it was one of the most precious things He could give. Ask for and receive your inheritance tonight!

Remarks on CBS on Sunday morning

Only  hope we find GOD again before it is too late ! !

The  following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS  Sunday  Morning  Commentary.

My confession:

I don't like getting pushed around for being a  Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for  being Christians.  I think people who believe in God are  sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.  I have no  idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly  atheist country.  I can't find it in the Constitution and I  don't like it being shoved down my throat...

Or maybe I  can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we  should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God  as we understand Him?  I guess that's a sign that I'm  getting old, too.  But there are a lot of us who are  wondering where these celebrities came from and where the  America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we  send to one another for a laugh, this is a little  different:  This is not intended to be a joke; it's not  funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
In  light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings,  etc..  I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she  was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she  didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.  Then  someone said you better not read the Bible in school...   The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and  love your neighbor as yourself.  And we said  OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our  children when they misbehave, because their little personalities  would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr.  Spock's son committed suicide).  We said an expert should  know what he's talking about..  And we said  okay..

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have  no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it  doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and  themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard  enough, we can figure it out.  I think it has a great deal  to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is  for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to  hell.  Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but  question what the Bible says.  Funny how you can send  'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when  you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think  twice about sharing.  Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and  obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public  discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward  this message, you will not send it to many on your address list  because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will  think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more  worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks  of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it... no one will know you  did.  But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit  back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards,  Honestly and  respectfully,

Ben  Stein

A Deeper Walk

A Deeper Walk

Luke 5:4

Faith is deposited in the spirit. Romans 12:3 says that every man is given a measure of faith. Faith is a force that comes out of the spirit, and can accomplish great things, but faith must be released to be of value.

If you have faith in your heart to step out and do something but begin to take counsel with your mind, negative, doubtful, and unbelieving thoughts can talk you right out of what faith is telling you. If your head believes the opposite of what your spirit is telling you, you must go deeper.

Do you want abundant blessings in your life? If the answer is yes, then like the disciples, you have to leave the shallow places of your own soul – what you think and feel  - for the deeper life in God… what you know down deep inside.

A Bible Inspiration For You: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

I thought you might enjoy this verse.

Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
