Psalm 4:7-8

God has prearranged and made ready a good life for you, but that good life is a choice. You have to decide to follow God's leading in order to walk in it.

 

The Bible contains guidelines for that good life. It is not a book of laws; it is about the liberty and freedom to live the life that reaps good things. It is a book of wisdom that will lead you to peace and joy. If you do what the Word says to do, blessings will chase you and find you where ever you are. (see Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

Psalm 119:50

God showed me that we are always going to have feelings, and that denying the existence of them is not Godly. We do have to learn how to manage them, so they don't manage us.

 

If we live by our feelings, we will be destroyed, because our feelings aren't always in line with God's truth. We are to walk by faith in His promises, and not by sight or how things appear or the way we feel (see 2 Corinthians 5:7). Ask God to keep your feelings balanced with the truth of his Word today.

Psalm 13/:3

Temptation to do wrong can make you feel horrible. You may think, I shouldn't be going through this; I shouldn't be having a problem with this. But God taught me that temptation isn't sin; we sin when we give in to temptation.

 

The Bible says temptation will come. It doesn't say, "Woe unto him to whom it comes," (see Matthew 17:7). Jesus told us to pray that we would not give in to the temptation when we are tempted (see Luke 22:40).

 

Psalm 105:4 is a great way to start your day right. I say, "Seek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence [continually] evermore."

Correct Answer:? You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively proves the theory that most professionals do not have the brains of a four-year-old.

Find Strength Through Adversity

You may be experiencing some sort of adversity in your life today. Someone close to you may be hard to get along with. You don't like your job, or maybe you have other obstacles in your path. Regardless of what's going on in your life, understand this; the tough times of life cause us to grow; that's when our faith is stretched. That's when God is doing a work in us. It may be uncomfortable. We may not like it, but we can keep the right attitude, God has promised to use that difficulty for our good. He'll use it for our advantage.

Our attitude in adversity should be, God, I know You're in complete control of my life, and you've got me exactly where You want me to be, so I'm going to stay filled with faith.

1 Corinthians 16:13

Stand Firm

Your faith is similar to a muscle. It grows stronger through resistance. It is exercised when it's being stretched, when it's being pushed. That's why God does not usually deliver us from adversity or uncomfortable situations overnight. He uses those times to build our "spiritual muscles."

Some people live in despair and disappointment, all because their circumstances are not exactly what they desire them to be. They are never happy unless everything is going their way, everybody is treating them right, and they are immune from experiencing discomfort. In other words, they never are happy! Besides, that's a very shallow way to live. And, if you lose your joy every time something negative happens to you, the enemy will make sure you always have somebody or something in you life that's going to keep you sour. But don't make that mistake.

Test of Your Faith

You may have a thousand difficult reasons why you could be unhappy, but don't slip into that trap. Choose to enjoy each day in spite of your circumstances. Every day you live with a negative attitude, dominated by your discouragements, is a day you've wasted. And what a shame to waste what God has given us!

Understand adversities are simply a test of your faith. Perhaps God wants to see how you will treat other people when you are mistreated. What kind of attitude are you going to have if your prayers aren't answered quickly? Our characters develop in the tough times. Something happens on the inside; God is causing us to grow up. If He delivered us instantaneously from every problem, we'd never develop into the persons He really wants us to be.

WHAT HAPPENS IN HEAVEN WHEN WE PRAY?

This is one of the nicest e-mails I have seen and is so true:
I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, ' This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received.

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.

The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them." I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section, my angel friend quietly admitted to me.. He seemed embarrassed." How is it that there is no work going on here? ' I asked.

"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments"

"How does one acknowledge God's blessings? " I asked..

"Simple," the angel answered. Just say, "Thank you, Lord. "

"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world ' s wealthy. "

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."

"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness .. You are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day. "

"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation .. You are ahead of 700 million people in the world.."

"If you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world."

"If your parents are still alive and still married ...you are very rare."

Ok, what now? How can I start?

I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an area Chaplain came to visit her.
This Chaplain was a very young female with long blond hair. She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small gift for comfort.
It was a tiny ceramic frog.
The next day one of the people from the lady's church came to visit.
The lady told her friend about the beautiful young Chaplain who had come to visit her.
The friend was so impressed with the way the lady had improved and felt the need to talk to the young Chaplain.
In her search to find the young gal, she was repeatedly reassured that the chaplains are never very young and that there was never a gal that fit the description given.

Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting nurse entered the room and noticed the ceramic frog.
The nurse made the comment 'I see you have a guardian angel with you.'
As she held the little frog.

God made a covenant with Abraham, that He would bless him, and cause him to be a blessing to others (see Genesis 12:2). You too are an heir to the true riches of God (see James 1:9). As you mature spiritually and are able to handle your inheritance, God wants you to have an abundance to bless others in His name.

 

Before you get involved with your daily routine today, seek God and feed your soul with His truth for your life. Experiencing God will cause you to imitate His goodness, and prosper in His abundance.

You may pray fifteen minutes every morning, and know you are touching heaven because things happen as a result of your prayers. But if you have a friend who prays for four hours every day, you may feel that you should pray more too.
 
Trust God to lead you individually in how long to pray and what to pray about. Spending an extra three hours and forty-five minutes can become a work of the flesh, if you do it just to be like your friend. You can wind up miserable and unproductive if you follow what someone else is doing, instead of simply saying, "Lord, teach me to pray."

He sets you free from the bondage of sin so that you can conform to His divine will  though purpose, and action (see Romans 6:18). Victory is achieved through God’s grace, but you have to choose to trust Him every step of the way.

Being out of balance opens the door for the devil to rob people of the good life. The devil tempts them to live in excess and extremes. He pushes some to be workaholics and others to be lazy, whichever works to keep them unproductive. He drives some to seek wealth above God, and convinces others that poverty is Godliness.

 

I believe that the only safe life is a balanced life. And a balanced life is obtained by keeping its priorities in line with God’s truth. Build your life on solid, safe ground by praying to God and listening to His plan for you.

The Word of God brings liberty, not legalism; promises, not laws; and guidelines to a good life, not condemnation. Many work at following a Christian lifestyle, but they are not happy because they are focused on rules instead of on their relationship with God.

 

If you are trudging along, believing you have to give, have to read the Bible, have to pray, have to walk in the fruit of the Spirit, I encourage you to stop thinking you have to do anything. You will discover that God will give you the grace to want to do the things that lead to a victorious life in Him.

Some Christians want to make a law out of studying the Bible or spending a certain amount of time with God. But we should be motivated to read God’s Word and spend time with Him because of our love relationship with Him, not because of a commandment to do so.

 

Jesus said, “If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands” (John 14:15). What He really meant was, “If you love Me and walk in fellowship with Me, you will keep My commandments.” If you concentrate on loving God, then keeping His commandments will become a natural part of what you do. It is a promise He makes to you.

God once told me, “You think, when you read the Bible that you are making Me happy. I am going to be happy whether you read it or not. No, if you read the Bible you’re happy. If you pray, you’re happy. If you give, you receive.”

 

Every single thing that God tells us to do, He tells us to do so to bless ourselves. He doesn’t ask us to devote ourselves to study and prayer for Him; it is for us. The good life is our choice.

The devil wants to keep us believers subject to legalism. If he can’t condemn us for what we do, he will try to torment us for what we don’t do. He wants us to feel guilty when we don’t read the Word and pray, suggesting that God isn’t pleased with us, or that He is even mad at us for what we haven’t done.

 

 God never condemns us for not being disciplined, but He lovingly invites us to spend time with Him. Heaven is available to us through simple trust in Jesus, but the good life is enjoyed when we act the way Jesus acts. We should want to read the Word because it holds the keys to knowing God intimately and enjoying Him fully.

Pennies

You always hear the usual stories of pennies on the sidewalk being good luck, gifts from angels, etc. This is the first time I've ever heard this twist on the story. Gives you something to think about. Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house. The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live... The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely~! As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband; He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.. Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny. He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up? Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.. A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this? "Look at it." He said. "Read what it says." She read the words " United States of America ." "No, not that; read further." "One cent?" "No, keep reading.." "In God we Trust?" "Yes!" "And?" "And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment... I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. Fortunate  for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful! When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message. It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And, God is patient. read down             Thought for the Day:   If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.   If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it...   He sends you flowers every spring.   He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!   Send this to every "beautiful person" you wish to bless.   God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.   Read this line very slowly and let it sink in.....   If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.   Pass this message to seven people except you and me.   You will receive a miracle tomorrow (just do it)! That was at  1:35 and at 2:55 There was an announcement that he Was promoted  and was leaving for Another city Believe me...this Really  works!!! My name is Ann and I  am 45 years Of age. I had always been single And had been hoping  to get into a Nice, loving relationship for many Years. Whatever you may be struggling with today, the Holy Spirit will help you live a self-controlled life, because the Bible says that self-control is a fruit of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:22-23).

 

Allow the Holy Spirit to help you admit when you have a problem that you need His help to over-come; then ask God for help from the Holy Spirit.

 

Jesus said, “Behold! I have given you authority and power… and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]” (Luke 10:19).

We live in a society that is used to doing whatever feels good right now. But instant gratification never brings lasting satisfaction.

 

If you operate in self-control through the power of the Holy Spirit living in you, you will choose to do things that contribute to the goal that you have in mind. You must discipline yourself now so you will reap the reward of reaching your goal later.

 

Paul taught, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize?  So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours” (1 Corinthians 9:24). Stay focused on the goal. God will give you’re the grace to continue moving toward it.

Happy Labor Day- Part II

Today is our national holiday to honor our working people-- which is everybody. There are parades, speeches at union halls and family gatherings. It is the unofficial End of Summer.

But there is good news....

We all have our cultural and family traditions. In the African American community, we like to:

1. BBQ [pork ribs are highly preferred]
2. Tell stories [funny or inspirational]
3. play cards [Spades or Tonk]
4. Spend happy time together
5. Spend time doing favorite hobbies.

So,

a. my story telling sonny has completed #2 and #3.
b. My husband is working on #1.
c. and we are all doing #4
d. I have...
gone out for coffee
played Soduku
blogged
made shiskabobs for the grill
ate popcorn
and still have time to finish my book #5.

So,

enjoy your time with your friends, family, pets [real or virtual or Skyped]
